Anori, recognition for the Windsled and sustainable cinema

Sustainable cinema reached a new milestone in New York, where the film Anori, Inuit Windsled, directed by mountaineer and Spanish filmmaker Carlos Pitarch, won the Frontier Award for Best Documentary at the prestigious Raw Science Film Festival. This achievement underscores its international significance and highlights the value of combining art with environmental awareness.

An inspiring expedition

Directed by Carlos Pitarch and led by explorer Ramón Larramendi, Anori documents the polar expedition SOS Arctic 2022 aboard the Windsled. This unique polar vehicle, powered by eolic energy, serves as a mobile laboratory that demonstrates how sustainable innovation can be key to studying and protecting polar regions.

The film blends breathtaking landscapes of Greenland with poignant imagery showcasing the impact of melting ice and rising temperatures on one of the planet’s most fragile ecosystems.

Global Recognition

The award in New York adds to a series of recent successes, including a prize at the Ascenso Festival in Venezuela and a nomination at the Bansko Mountain Film Fest in Bulgaria. Ramón Larramendi emphasized that these accolades enhance the project’s global impact, highlighting the importance of fostering clean, sustainable research for polar regions.
